OUR CHURCH
Who are we:
The Oromo Evangelical Lutheran Church (OELC) of Washington DC is an Oromo Speaking congregation built by immigrant of Lutheran Oromo Christians from the Horn of Africa over 32 years ago and re-strengthened in 2013 that represents this congregation. The purpose of re-strengthened OELC congregation is to do Christian Ministry among the community members in Washington DC Metro area and to build the Kingdom of God while maintaining the faith for the young generation Lutherans.
The OELC confesses the Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In our preaching and teaching our church trusts the Gospel as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe.
We believe and teach that marriage is a sacred institution of a union created by God between a man and a woman only.
Our Vison:
Our vision is to be a church that is spiritually matured with steady spiritual growth of members built on the body of Christ through its ministries.
Our mission:
Our mission is to follow and make followers of Christ, proclaim God’s love through word and sacrament, serving one another and the larger community.
